MC Authority, Tracked To Active
MC authority is FMCSA's permission to haul freight for hire across state lines. Your application isn't done when it's filed. It's done when your authority shows active.
We file the application and the BOC-3, stay on your insurance agent until the filing is in, and tell you the day you can take loads.
How It Works
- Apply. We file your application with FMCSA.
- Published. FMCSA posts your application in the FMCSA Register. Anyone has 10 days to protest it.
- Insurance filed. Your insurance company files proof of coverage with FMCSA.
- BOC-3 filed. Names a process agent in every state.
- Active. Once the protest period is over and insurance and BOC-3 are on file, your authority is granted.
Insurance is where most new carriers get stuck. Start on it the day you apply.
Insurance Minimums
For-hire carriers running trucks 10,001 lbs and up need at least this much liability coverage on file:

Brokers file a BMC-84 surety bond or BMC-85 trust fund instead.
